Indie Films Premier Online to Rave Reviews

Created by technology and entertainment executives, Fandor is a subscription-based online service for independent films that bills itself as the “Netflix” of the Sundance Film Festival crowd. They came to The Faction Agency when their brand wasn’t achieving the recognition it deserved and needed a more powerful yet sustainable promotional campaign to win the hearts and minds of indie-film lovers.

The New YorkerWe began by reworking and solidifying Fandor’s image with a new focus on building drama around its same-day theatrical-digital premiers for independent films. In addition, Fandor had not yet established relationships with film bloggers and reviewers and tapped into our expertise to orchestrate ongoing outreach to this specialized group of influencers.

MEASURE OF INFLUENCE

Results exceeded all expectations with recognition of Fandor’s unique approach to indie films and partnerships getting media attention in The Hollywood Reporter and other leading entertainment publications. The film blogger program grew from just two to more than fifty, representing celebrated film reviewers and luminaries all whom also chose to receive highly customized “pitch perfect” weekly updates along with advance screening copies of films premiering online at Fandor. Roger Ebert said, “Fandor is invaluable in finding great films” and delivers “flawless service.” David Holzman’s Diary and Sleep Furiously, the initial films which digitally premiered on Fandor, were reviewed by more than 30 publications including The New York Times, The Village Voice, Gawker, Time Out New York and indieWIRE.
